Extension 03:37
Extends over every aspect Suffers in every part There is something in you An illumination you cannot turn off However much you wish to However much you try
2.
Precipice 08:40
In your arms Is standing on the precipice Of a gateway to a better world

My cournerstone Emotional Agony The distress of vertigo And love dives and swoops around it And I plunge further into it Agonizing over distractions Stop and look Really look

Something is better about this place But I don't know what Its always so complex it should drive me mad But it doesn't I spoke to the divers at the ten mile deep swimming pool They said that sometimes they collected bodies that floated up after failed expeditions I was scared but not disturbed There was just something more to think about I saw lights in the sky, walking back from some house party Probably from an event going on near-by Casting light on low hanging clouds I hoped they were aliens come to abduct me I shouted out for you to bring me somewhere else Perhaps home And I daydreamed about smashing my head against the curb of the road Until my brains leaked out And holding myself over the ground so it could absorb me I was always so loud It pains me how obnoxious I was Head in the clouds, desperate for an escape Mouth speaking nonsense Even then I hated it about myself

I'm not what I said I was I'm not in control I'm just falling like the rest of us But I never say Just flailing about Just another face Terrified Failure I wasn't even born right Everything is profoundly wrong I can't save you

about

DISTRAXI’s self-titled release on Brachliegen is a statement of intent from Alina Church. Dissociation, rage, regret, and ideation put onto tape, ‘for better or worse’. Working through the medium of what the artist describes as ‘ecstatic pain castration’, Distraxi follows up recent releases for Hard Return, Bent Window & Mima Kass with an eponymous album of dense soundscapes which range from melancholic dark ambient to blistering harsh noise.

Calling to mind the clinical dissection of power electronics by Himukult, the synth soundscapes of Prurient’s 2010s material and the blown-out sonic desiccation of Secret Boyfriend, the queen of pain electronics delivers an introspective collection of cathartic exhumations and expulsions.

DISTRAXI melds granite drums, helicopter drones, sharp arpeggiations and harsh swathes of feedback with the exteriorisation of a lifetime of dissociation through caustic vocal exorcisms. Ranging from ecstasy to despair, noise bursts like blisters on a fresh graft across six tracks of frenzied heavy electronics. The fragile borders between interiority and exteriority are decimated in this highly personal collection of recordings, as DISTRAXI stands at the precipice to the void and faces it head on.
